June Highlights: Public Shows, Pride and Summer Parties

June highlights header

June’s always a packed month for me and this year has been no different. It’s been great to catch up with some old clients and meet a lot of new people while performing magic at events.

Here’s an update on what I got up to last month, from corporate summer socials and trade shows to immersive theatre and awards ceremonies.

Pride Month Celebration

The month kicked off brilliantly on June 5th with a Pride month celebration for one of my regular clients – a London law firm I’ve had the pleasure of working with for several years now.

I was booked as a corporate event magician to perform close-up magic around the room. The evening also included a couple of performances on stage by the brilliant London Gay Men’s Chorus. It’s always lovely to be a part of events that celebrate diversity and inclusion, and it’s nice to be rebooked by the same company year after year.

“The Illusioneer Presents” at Bell House

On June 9th and 10th I performed alongside some old friends for The Illusioneer Presents at Bell House in Dulwich. We’ve been doing this show in various forms for over a decade and it really is a labour of love. All of the proceeds go to a great charity – Breathe Arts Health Research – who use magic as physical therapy for kids with hemiplegia.

The audiences on both nights were lovely, and I got to perform a new magic trick I’d been working on for a while – it went well!

Exhibition Magic At Excel London

Mid-month saw me at the Excel Centre, working with A&A Electrical Ltd at Liftex International. They brought me in to help draw visitors to their exhibition stand and it worked a treat. Trade shows can be a tough environment for standing out, but hiring a good trade show magician is a brilliant way to stop people in their tracks, get them smiling, and start conversations.

I had some branded cards made up for A&A, so visitors got a takeaway to remember the magic (and more importantly the company I was a representing!)

Virtual Magic for Meta

When I started doing virtual magic shows back in 2020 (remember those strange times?), I never imagined they’d still be a thing more than 5 years later. While they are less frequent than they were during the pandemic, they’re still very popular with the increase in people working from home.

Last month, I entertained a team from Meta, based both in the UK and various locations across the USA. If you host virtual events and meetings and want to hire a virtual magician to make it more engaging and memorable, get in touch to find out more!

Celebrating 10 Years of The Burnside Partnership

On 18th June I was at The Clubhouse at The Ivy, where The Burnside Partnership were celebrating their 10th anniversary with an evening of drinks for clients and colleagues. I mingled with guests, performing close-up magic during drinks and canapés. A lovely venue and a very happy crowd.

Darren was the natural choice when we were seeking some entertainment for our corporate drinks party. We’ve enjoyed his magic on several previous memorable evenings and this time once again our guests were left speechless. Thank you Darren for a superb performance and we look forward to booking you again in the future.

Summer Drinks with the WCGA

Next, I performed at a summer social for the Women’s Chartered Governance Association, held at The Fish Market near Liverpool Street. Another lovely summer’s evening and a great chance to entertain guests with walkaround magic during drinks.

Chelsea Chivers from the WGCA wrote me a lovely testimonial on LinkedIn after the event:

Darren is an unbelievable entertainer with incredible presence. Not only is he professional and a great communicator, he absolutely loves what he does. Our event wouldn’t have been the same without him, his humour, magic and ice breakers were a highlight of the evening! Highly recommend for any corporate/large event.

Paytech Awards 2025

June ended on a high at the Paytech Awards, where I performed magic for the third year running.

It’s always nice to be invited back, and this year’s event was at a new venue – the gorgeous Honourable Artillery Company in The City. This event is a pleasure to work out, it’s nice to see familiar faces from previous years and need some new ones..

London event photographer Nick Beard, captured some fantastic photos of reactions during the day, here are a few of them.

The Magicians Table

Throughout June, I also performed several dates at The Magician’s Table—an intimate and immersive magic experience in London Bridge. It’s a brilliant show to be part of and nice to work with such a talented team.

If you’d like to come to watch the show, check my public dates to find out when I’ll be performing – use code “DARREN10” for 10% of your ticket price!

Looking Ahead

July is shaping up to be just as busy, with more summer parties corporate events in the diary. If you want to hire a magician for your corporate event or private party, drop me a line – I’d love to talk to you.

It may seem like a long way away, but December dates are limited and are already filling up. If you want a Christmas party magician for your festive office bash, make sure you book early!
