About Searcys at The Gherkin
The Gherkin (officially 30 St Mary Axe) opened in 2004 and quickly became one of London’s most famous landmarks. Designed by Norman Foster, the building is admired for its unique architecture and sweeping panoramic views.
Right at the top on levels 38, 39 and 40 you’ll find Searcys, a private members’ club and event venue offering floor-to-ceiling glass views across London. Think elegant dinners, champagne receptions, and sun-drenched morning conferences with a backdrop like no other.
Private Hire at The Gherkin
Searcys offers a variety of spaces for hire, from intimate private dining rooms to exclusive full-floor takeovers.
The Helix Restaurant and Iris Bar span the top two floors and can be hired exclusively for larger events – perfect for product launches, client receptions or a blow-the-budget Christmas party. Together, these spaces can accommodate up to 260 guests for standing receptions, or around 140 for seated dinners.
There are also five private dining rooms on level 38, ideal for smaller meetings or gatherings of 10 to 30 people. I recently performed for a group of 30 in one of these rooms – it was a lovely intimate event with a stunning backdrop of the City of London.

You’ll find The Gherkin in the heart of the City, just a short walk from Liverpool Street, Aldgate, and Bank stations. Searcys is on the top 3 floors, accessible by a private lift once you’ve passed reception and security.
It’s easy to reach from anywhere in London, and the surrounding area offers plenty of after-party spots if you’re planning a late one.
