Venue Spotlight: Noble Rot Soho

Noble Rot Soho

Some of my favourite events to perform at are for small groups in private dining rooms. This weekend I did just that – I was booked as a magician for a party at Noble Rot Soho.

It’s one of three Noble Rot restaurants (the first is in Bloomsbury and the latest in Mayfair) and is on the former site of the Gay Hussar on Greek Street. The Gay Hussar was once famously a meeting point for many left-wing politicians. Apparently Tony Blair and Alastair Campbell used to meet there to plot their rise to Downing Street.

Snacks at Noble Rot Soho
I always appreciate tasty snacks

I was booked for an event in the first floor private dining room, so I only swiftly walked through the main restaurant before it had opened.

That said, judging from various glowing reviews, it’s a great place to celebrate a special occasion or to have a decadent lunch.

In between my performances, I was offered some snacks, which were delicious (Bread, crudités and hummus, radishes with goats cheeses and caviar, in case you were wondering).

The menu looked fantastic, and I could tell the guests thoroughly enjoyed it. They’re also known for their impressive wine lists – I don’t drink while working and so I sadly didn’t partake!

In 2021 and 2022, Noble Rot Soho won ‘Wine List of The Year’ at the National Restaurant Awards. It was also placed 32 in the top 100 UK restaurants in 2023.

Private Dining at Noble Rot Soho

There are two private dining rooms, each seating 10-16 people, on the first and second floors. The artwork on the walls show scenes of old Soho, and you can hear the Soho streets buzzing outside the frosted windows.

The team at Noble Rot Soho were also a delight to work with.

I’m yet to visit their other restaurants but can’t wait to do so. A brilliant spot if you’re looking for an intimate dining room to celebrate a special occasion!

According to the website, private dining reservations have a minimum spend of £500, excluding discretionary service charge. A deposit of £250 is also required.
