Sometimes companies hire me as a trade show magician, where my task is to attract potential customers to their exhibition stand using magic.
It’s great fun – although very tiring!
One thing I particularly enjoy is the creative exercise of coming up with magic tricks which relate to the products that my client sells.
This week I was hired by Delinea to do exactly that at the Gartner Security and Risk Management Summit. As the event title suggests, most of the exhibitors were involved in IT Security. Not the most exciting topic for magic tricks, but I was up for the challenge!
I came up with two magic tricks.
One involved participants correctly guessing my PIN number (a made up one, not my actual PIN. I’m not stupid!)
The second was a card trick about computer password security. It included a playing card with Delinea’s branding on it which the participant could take away with them afterwards and hopefully remember the company and the great experience they had!
Here’s a video of me performing the card trick on the exhibition stand
Of course, the magic trick’s presentation is a bit tongue in cheek, but it got the point across. Everybody seemed to enjoy it, the client was happy and they spoke to a lot of potential prospects as a result. Win!
